Why do you need daily habits? If you don't do something each day to work towards your goals, a week or month can fly by and you haven't made any progress.
Why exercise? If you get up early in the morning and you have a great workout, you're going to have more energy and more drive to work towards your goals and become more successful. Also, there's a mental toughness factor. I was backpacking in the Sierras and I was having some issues. I had to tell myself to just keep going and keep putting one foot in front of the other. When you push yourself out of your comfort zone physically, it also applies mentally. You build up mental toughness to help you get through the tough times. When you're working towards success, it's not always going to be great. There's going to be some tough times and you're going to have to be mentally tough to get to the other side and be successful.
You have to know where you want to go to be successful. I'm a whitewater kayak instructor. When my students are scared and see I rock. I tell them not to look at the rock. If you look at the rock, you're going to go towards it and you're going to hit it. You have to look at where you want to go. The same thing applies in life. You have to figure out what you want and where you want to go. Because what you focus on is what you get in life.
You have to learn each day. You're at a place in life and there's a place you want to get to be successful. You have to figure out how to bridge that gap. What skills and strategies do you need to become that person and to be successful? Then you have to go out and find the books you need to learn about it. If you don't like reading books, there's some great audio CD's and some great training online. You have to get out there and learn to become the person you want to be.
Why journal? You're reading this books and listening to these CD's. You don't want to have to do it again. If something hits you and you like it, write it down in your journal. Also, if something doesn't go well, write that down in your journal as well. Then look back it and figure out what you can do better next time. Learn from it, so you don't have to repeat your history.
You're not here for yourself. You're here to make an impact on the world, to leave a legacy, and to help others. Every day you should be out there looking to see how you can help someone else. If you want to be super successful, you have to figure out how to help more people. If you can figure out a way to solve a big problem for a lot of people, you're going to be super successful.
